The Snowflake Heritage Foundation is gearing up for the annual Twelve Days of Christmas celebration, and encourages everyone to decorate their homes and businesses for the Christmas season.
In 1997 the foundation came up with a theme for the town, “Snowflake, the town where the Christmas spirit lives all year long,” and to go along with that theme, encouraged everyone to at least put a wreath on their door and, if possible, lights on their homes. Foundation board members felt the efforts of so many brought a spirit of unity to the community.
This year the Snowflake-Taylor Chamber of Commerce invites everyone to participate in a countdown to turn on the lights and welcome Santa to the community on Monday, Dec. 2, on Main Street and First North in Snowflake. Each year excitement fills the air as everyone waits for the Christmas lights to be turned on, and the children wait for Mr. and Mrs. Santa’s arrival, when they will receive their goodie bags. Festivities begin at 6 p.m. on the west side of Main Street.
This year the Town of Snowflake will have a large, decorated pine tree at the Freeman Home that will be lit after the count down.
The LDS Main Street Chapel will host the annual display of nativities, and there will be performances throughout the evening on First North Street between Main Street and First West Street, as well as hot chocolate furnished by the businesses and cookies furnished by the churches.
Once again each of the churches will host programs throughout the 12 Days of Christmas.
