The Winslow Bulldogs opened play in the Scorpion Invitational Tournament on Thursday when they met the Snowflake Lobos and the Copper Canyon Aztecs in pool play. The tournament will continue today and Saturday (Dec. 6 and 7). Winslow Coach Ricky Greer said he is pleased with the arrangement, as it assures him of tough competition that will help improve the team.
Other teams in the tournament are the Sedona Red Rock Scorpions, the Kingman-Lee Williams High School Volunteers and the Payson Longhorns in a pool, and the Hopi Bruins, the Lake Havasu Knights and the Blue Ridge Yellowjackets in another.
Should Winslow win its bracket, the Bulldogs would play the third place finisher of the Hopi, Lake Havasu and Blue Ridge bracket. Should they finish second in the bracket, they would play the second place finisher in the bracket of Sedona Red Rock, Lee Williams and Payson. Should they finish third they would play the second place finisher of the Hopi, Lake Havasu and Blue Ridge bracket for the right to play the winner of the Sedona Red Rock, Lee Williams and Payson bracket.
