The Chinle Wildcats defeated the Winslow Bulldogs 88-74 game played Tuesday night in Chinle.
The Wildcats had a huge first half, establishing a 24-16 first quarter lead and a 53-41 advantage at the intermission.
The Bulldogs cut into the deficit in the third quarter and trailed 66-60 going into the final period. Chinle increased its lead slightly in that frame. Much of the Wildcats’ advantage came at the charity stripe, where they made 22 of 29 attempts to only nine of 16 for the Bulldogs.
Stevin Nelson of Winslow and Wyatt Tuni of Chinle shared scoring honors with 27 points each. Tuni had 12 two-point goals and three free throws. Nelson had six three-point goals, four two-point goals and a free throw.

The loss left the Bulldogs with an 8-5 record for the season. Winslow’s next game will also be in Chinle against the Page Sand Devils in their first game of the Tournament of Champions on Thursday, Dec. 26.
