In their only two wins of the season, posted on Dec. 13 and 14, the Wildcats had a couple of players put up some impressive stats.
Hosting St. Michaels on Dec. 13, the Cats’ Koby Smith dropped in 21 points and pulled down 10 rebounds to help Joseph City to a 69-55 win. Kadin Crosby and Daniel Hutchens each netted 13, followed by Wyatt Johnson and Hayden Hendricks with 10 each; Austin Bushman, 2; and Cody Davis and Jaden Turley, 1 each.
The following night it was Johnson who turned in a stellar performance to help the Cats to back-to-back wins. Johnson’s 26-point effort paced the team to a 77-59 win over Ash Fork. Hutchens added 17 points and pulled down 10 rebounds. Smith scored 15 points, followed by Crosby with 7; Davis and Landon Baldwin, 3 each; and TJ. Hendricks, Hayden Hendricks and Bushman, 2 each.
Joseph City dropped its final game prior to the Christmas break, suffering a 75-45 loss to Round Valley at Eagar.
The Wildcats have a 2-6 record. They will open play in the new year on Thursday, Jan. 2, at the White Mountain Holiday Tournament at Blue Ridge High School in Lakeside. Joseph City’s first opponent will be Benson.
