The historic Arizona Rancho, a vacant hotel located on the corner of Apache and Tovar streets south of the railroad tracks in Holbrook, sustained minor damage after a fire destroyed a room adjacent to the main building of the hotel.
The fire was reported at 6:37 a.m. on Monday, Dec. 30, and the Holbrook Volunteer Fire Department responded. The blaze reportedly started from a wood stove fire that spread into a wall. A support beam in the ceiling began to collapse, preventing firefighters from entering the building, but the fire was contained to one room.
There were no reports of any injuries due to the fire.
