A Winslow rancher made the grisly discovery of human remains while rounding up cattle about five miles south of Winslow. At approximately 7:15 a.m. on Wednesday, Jan. 8, Buzz Lucero was out gathering cattle on the 7 HL7 HL Right Cattle Company Ranch when he came across the remains and contacted the Navajo County Sheriff’s Office to report what he had found.
Deputies, along with the Heber Overgaard Search and Rescue, Sheriff’s Auxiliary Volunteers, the Navajo County Attorney’s Office investigator and detectives from the Show Low Police Department, responded to the area to search for evidence.
According to Chief Deputy Sheriff Jim Molesa, there was no indication of foul play. Positive identification of the remains, along with the cause and manner of death, will be made by the Navajo County Medical Examiner’s Office.
