The Lobos picked up two impressive road wins last week with victories over Holbrook and Sedona.
Thursday evening Snowflake was in Sedona where the Lobos scorched the nets early and often, piling up points in a 99-62 win. Fifty-one first half points were impressive enough, but a 33-point outburst in the third period really put away any hopes Sedona had for an upset.
Eleven Lobos scored in the win led by Luke Lewis with 20 points. Rick Shumway added 14; Kegan Kay, 11; Travis Flake, 10; Dallin Fusselman and Keegan Bjorn, 9 each; Kurt Wood and Gunner Caldwell, 7 each; Jordan Gardner, 6; Tanner Crosby, 4; and Everett Lunt, 2.
The Lobos made eight of 20 three-point attempts led by Shumway with four.
Snowflake started the week with an 82-66 win at Holbrook on Tuesday. The Roadrunners held a six-point lead at the close of the first, but a 27-point second period from the Lobos propelled them to a double-digit halftime lead. That lead grew to as much as 20 early in the third before the Birds rallied back to make the game close until the midpoint of the fourth quarter when Snowflake put the game on ice.
Snowflake was led by the trio of Kay, Lewis and Fussleman with 17 points each. Wood added 11; Gardner, 9; Flake, 8; Shumway, 2; and Lunt, 1.
Snowflake shot well at the free throw line, making 22 of 27 attempts, and hit six of 14 three-point tries.
Snowflake headed into this week with an overall mark of 14-3 and was ranked in the top five in the power point rankings. After playing at Show Low on Tuesday, the Lobos will host Alchesay on Thursday, Jan. 16, and Monument Valley on Saturday, Jan. 18. On Tuesday, Jan. 21, they play Alchesay in Whiteriver.
