The Winslow Bulldogs defeated the Round Valley Elks 89-70 in a basketball game played at Winslow Tuesday evening. The win improved Winslow’s record to 15-7 for the season.
The game was very closely played during the first half. The score was tied 16-16 after the first quarter and Round Valley led 31-30 at the intermission. The Bulldogs rallied in the third quarter and led 59-50 entering the final period, where they pulled away for the victory.
Round Valley star Westen Ziegler led all scorers with 43 points, but was the only Elk in double figures, though Tanner Bingham scored 9 for Round Valley.
Frank Kelly paced Winslow with 22 points, including five treys. Stevin Nelson added 12 points; Trevor Begay, 11; and Keenan Keams, 10.

The Bulldogs were slated to play the Eagles in Flagstaff on Wednesday. They will host the Mingus Marauders on Monday, Jan. 20, visit the Blue Ridge Yellowjackets on Friday, Jan. 24, and host the Monument Valley Mustangs on Saturday, Jan. 25.
