Sibyl (Whipple) Allen, 85, loving mother, grandmother and sister, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, Jan. 15, 2014, at the home of her son, John and Ann Allen in San Tan Valley. Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. on Saturday, Jan. 18, at the Love Lake Chapel of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints in Taylor. Viewings will be held from 6 to 8 o’clock tonight (Jan. 17) at Owens Livingston Mortuary in Snowflake and at 9 a.m. on Saturday at the church. Burial will be at the Taylor Cemetery.
She was born to Orson Temple Whipple and to Grace Randall on March 24, 1928, in Whiteriver. She was the oldest of 10 children, and loved and helped care for them all. They said their ranch was outside of Show Low at the time, even though Show Low High School is on part of it now.
Sibyl grew up and lived in Show Low, where she met and married the love of her life, Paul W. Allen. They were married in the Mesa Temple on Jan. 22, 1948. She and Paul raised their children in Taylor.
Survivors include her seven children, Wendell (Ginger) of Show Low, John (Ann) of San Tan Valley, Les (Kathy) of Peoria, Marlene (Boyd) Westover of Joseph City, Lewis (Celeste) of Taylor, Caroline (Rob) Solomon of Queen Creek and Brad of Taylor; 27 grandchildren; and 43½ great-grandchildren.

Her grandparents and great grandparents were settlers in the early days of the Arizona Territory. She never traveled far and yet she sent her descendants throughout the world to make it a better place. She taught them to work, serve others and to live with integrity after the manner of happiness.Allen Sybil obit
