Pauline E. Mewhinney, 85, a former resident of Holbrook, passed away on Friday, Jan. 17, 2014, at her home in Cottonwood. Services will be held on Saturday, Jan. 25, at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church in Cottonwood.
She was born on Feb. 14, 1928, in McNary to Lorenzo and Sofia Saiz Garcia of Concho, where she grew up.
She later moved to Holbrook, where she met and married William B. Mewhinney. They were married for 65 years.
Survivors include her husband, William B. Mewhinney; three sons, William (Debbie) Mewhinney of Cottonwood, Mike (Lisa) Mewhinney of Phoenix and Richard (Mary Kay) Mewhinney of Cornville; one daughter, Star (Larry) Turley of Holbrook; 15 grandchildren; 17 great-grandchildren; one brother, Libor (Tilly) Garcia of Concho; and one sister, Safarnia (David) McMillian of Concho.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Lorenzo and Sofia Garcia; two sons, John Mewhinney and Earl Mewhinney; three grandsons, Gabriel Mewhinney, Jeremy Turley and Calvin Mewhinney; and two brothers, Ted Garcia and Frank Garcia.
