The Lady Wildcats have quietly put together a seven-game winning streak and haven’t dropped a game since the calendar turned to January. Three wins last week are included in that stretch, including victories over Cibecue, Superior and Ft. Thomas.
Playing in Cibecue is always a tough task, but the Joseph City squad was up to the challenge, coming home with a 65-54 road win on Tuesday. The game was close throughout the first three periods, but Joseph City outscored the home team 18-12 in the fourth to secure the win.
Sierra Rogers had a big game, netting 19 points. Madison Fields added 15; Brooke Baldwin, 12; Krista Edwards, 10; Lindi Gardner, 7; and Katelyn Pugh, 2.
Hosting Superior on Friday, Joseph City led by four over the Lady Panthers after the first period and gradually added to that lead throughout each period to win the game comfortably, 58-32. Brooke Baldwin led the Wildcats’ offense with 17 points, followed by Gardner with 10; Amanda Baldwin, 8; Kaylene Tsosie, 7; Katelyn Pugh, 6; Edwards, 4; and Mary Larsen, Rogers and Sadie Tuckfield, 2 each.
On Saturday Joseph City handled visiting Ft. Thomas 61-40, pushing their overall season mark to 16-3.
The Wildcats headed into this week’s action ranked 12th in Division IV power points with a 13-1 record. They will host Mogollon tonight (Jan. 29), then travel to St. Johns on Friday, Jan. 31. On Saturday, Feb. 1, they return home to host Red Mesa.
