The Bulldog wrestlers won a very close dual meet with the Flagstaff Eagles 39-36 on Jan. 22 at Winslow. The match was so close that the team winner was not decided until the final pairing of the night.
The Bulldogs got off to a good start in the 106-pound contest when Blane Foster pinned Flagstaff’s Ian Schwartz. Flagstaff won the 113-pound contest on a forfeit win by Isaac Schwartz. The Eagles took the 120-pound match when Wyatt Bauman won a 4-0 decision over Brayden Garcia. In the 126-pound match, Wyatt Nez of Flagstaff pinned Andrew Kendall.
The Bulldogs got back to winning in the 132-pound match when Daniel Lopez pinned Ethan Larson. The 138-pound match went to Flagstaff when Tom Tyburczy pinned Chad Edgmon. Kellen Campbell of Winslow won the 145-pound match by forfeit. In the 152-pound match, James Martinez of Winslow won a 3-1 decision over Corbin Praet. In the 160-pound match, Cody Castro of Flagstaff pinned Preston Greenwood.
Jace Hardy got Winslow back to winning when he pinned Paul Evtimov to win the 170-pound match. Quentin Begody of Winslow won the 182-pound match by a forfeit. In the 195 pound match, Joshua Castro of Flagstaff won a 3-0 decision over Jacob Huddleston.
Flagstaff took the lead in the match when Colton Fordyce pinned Trey Hardy in the 220-pound match. Winslow won the 285-pound match and the dual meet when Jade Chischillie pinned Trey Solis.
