The Roadrunners played well through the first three-fourths of Tuesday night’s contest in Winslow, but the final eight minutes were decidedly in the home team’s favor as the Bulldogs prevailed 66-52.
Holbrook trailed by just five at the close of the opening frame, but stayed in touch with a 14-point second period. Kyle Chee netted seven of his game high 18 in the second quarter. Trailing by eight at the half, Holbrook came out strong in the third period, outscoring Winslow by 10 to hold a two-point edge going into the fourth. In the final period Winslow connected on three shots from behind the arc and made five of six free throws to go along with four regular field goals. Defensively, the Bulldogs held Holbrook to only three two-point field goals, opening the game late, then cruising to the 12-point decision.
Chee led Holbrook’s offense with 18 and Marcel Young added 13; Abrian Dickson and Dontae Hollins, 7 each; Andon Hatch, 2; and Triston Zahne, 1.
The Roadrunners made eight of 12 from the charity stripe and hit three treys.
Stevin Nelson scored 15, followed by Keenan Keams with 12, and Trelonnie Sanders and Frank Kelley with 10 each.
The Bulldogs made six of seven free throw attempts and buried nine three-point shots in the win.

The win improved Winslow’s record to 17-10 for the season. The Bulldogs will play in Payson tonight (Jan. 31) and host Show Low on Saturday for their last regular season home game. They will play at Window Rock on Tuesday, Feb. 4, and at Snowflake on Thursday, Feb. 6.
With the loss Holbrook falls to 13-11 overall and is now 8-5 in power point contests.
After playing in Tuba City on Thursday, the Roadrunners will return to their home court for the first time this week when they host Valley Sanders on Saturday night, Feb. 1. They wrap up the regular season next week with a road trip to Snowflake on Tuesday, followed by a home game with Alchesay on Friday night.
