The Lady Roadrunners dropped their second game in a row by a large margin as they fell to the Lady Bulldogs at Winslow Tuesday night, 62-39.
Holbrook played well in the early stages, with Quanyyah Lester scoring four off the bench in the first period to match the output from Summer Olney. Teyah Goldtooth hit a pair of threes in the second period and Holbrook went to the half trailing 27-21.
As has been the case for much of the season, Holbrook failed to score consistently in the second half. The Roadrunners struggled to score from the field in the third period, netting just five points while giving up 20 to the Bulldogs, which pretty much determined the outcome of the game. In the fourth Winslow outscored the Birds by just four, but the damage had been done.
“We played well for about a quarter and a half, then we didn’t respond like I had hoped we would once they started playing aggressive,” said Holbrook Coach Greg Perkins.
“Like most good teams, Winslow capitalized on our mistakes. Our turnovers directly resulted in quick points, giving them momentum and expanding their lead.
“We must play more aggressive and take care of the ball. Winslow is very good, but we can play better and need to play better to extend our season very deep into the state tournament,” said the coach.
Quanyyah Lester led Holbrook in scoring with 9 points.
Overall, the Roadrunners made 12 of 15 free throws, just nine regular field goals and hit three from distance.
Winslow was led by Shandiin Armao with a game high 21 points. Halle Hayes followed with 13 and Kaelyn Bitsoi with 11.
The Bulldogs made nine of 15 charity tosses and hit five treys.

Next Tuesday they travel to Snowflake, then will wrap up the regular season next Friday at home against Alchesay.
