Winslow City Manager Stephen Pauken advised the city council Tuesday evening that Teresa Foy has been hired as finance director.
He also said that he, Fire Chief James Hernandez, Police Chief Steve Garnett and Lt. Jim Sepi had attended the inauguration of Hopi Tribal Chairman Herman G. Honanie. He noted that he will be attending a city managers’ conference next week.
Allen Rosenbaum reported that the city water tank which has been repaired is full and working well. He said that the water is being tested and is believed to be an improved product. Results will be made public soon.
Police Chief Garnett reported on downtown parking, noting that business owners and employees had agreed to use off the street parking at the council chambers and other lots. If that doesn’t solve the problem, other options will be considered.
Judge Alison Kolomitz gave the monthly municipal court report.
The check register and minutes of the Jan. 14 council meeting were approved.
Cheri Clemens and Stanley Bahnimtewa were appointed to the Arts Council.
Mike Howell was appointed to the Airport Commission.
Donation of a $25 family swim pass to Winslow Head Start was approved.
An ordinance was approved amending the city code to change the Arts Council membership form 10 to nine, and designating two of those seats as voting student seats.
There was discussion regarding water and sewer rates, but no action was taken. The item will be considered once more when information is available.
An executive session for legal advice regarding the possible purchase of real property was held, but no action was taken on the item when the council returned to regular session.
