Snowflake’s Lady Lobos are heading into the final week of the regular season on the heels of five consecutive wins, including all three games played last week.
The Lobos traveled to Globe on Tuesday, where they easily took care of the Lady Tigers, 54-25. Jessica Neff led the way with 13 points. Tycee Coplan added 10; Kadi Johnson, 8; Annika Decker, 7; Marisa Godfrey, 6; Courtney Baldwin, 3; Rachelle King, Melissa Eich and Skylee Scott, 2 each; and Macie Rawlins, 1.
Thursday’s game at Blue Ridge was much closer, but Snowflake again prevailed, 54-47. A two-point first period lead led to a nine-point edge at the half. Consistent scoring in the third and fourth quarters were enough to hold off the Lady Yellowjackets. Godfrey led the way with 12 points. Decker and Neff each added 9; Coplan, 8; Johnson and Baldwin, 6 each; and Rawlins, 4.
Hosting the first of four consecutive home games to close out the regular season on Saturday, the Lobos took care of visiting Safford, 43-36. Neff and Coplan each scored 10 to lead the way. Decker added 8; Godfrey and Johnson, 6 each; and Baldwin, 3.
With the three wins the Lobos improved their overall mark to 15-9 and their power point record to 10-5. They entered the final week of the regular season ranked 16th in the standings and third overall in Section 4 of Division III. They should qualify for the sectional tournament, which will on Tuesday, Feb. 11. They are also in a good position to reach the post season as one of the top 24 ranked teams and could possibly host a first round game if they finish inside the top 16.
