The Winslow Bulldogs fell to the Lobos 63-53 last Friday night in Snowflake in the final basketball game of the regular season. The win assured Snowflake of the top seed in the sectional tournament, which was slated to start Tuesday in Show Low. Winslow could have won that honor with a victory. Snowflake took an excellent 29-4 record into the tournament while Winslow fell to 11-11 going into the sectional tournament, where they were to play the Alchesay Falcons on Tuesday.
The game was tied 17-17 after the first quarter, but Snowflake held Winslow to just nine points in the second quarter and led 32-26 at the half. The margin was 49-36 after three quarters and while the Bulldogs cut into the lead, the issue was not in much doubt in the final period.
Dallin Fusselman led all scorers with 16 points for Snowflake, followed by Rick Shumway and Luke Davis with 15 each, and Kurt Wood with 11.
Stevin Nelson led the Bulldogs with 14 points. Frank Kelly added 13 and Keenan Keams scored 9.

The Winslow junior varsity team defeated Snowflake’s jayvee squad 58-53 to complete a perfect 19-0 season.
