Feb 142014

The Little Colorado River Horseman’s Association (LCRHA) will hold its first gymkhana of the 2014 season at 11 a.m. on Saturday, Feb. 15, at the Navajo County Fairgrounds in Holbrook. Signups begin at 10 a.m., and time-only runs begin at 10:45 a.m. Events include barrel racing, Washington poles, mountain cowhorse and bowtie, with an egg and spoon jackpot race to finish up the fun.
Riders of all skill levels and ages, from 2 years old and up, are encouraged to participate. LCRHA encourages family participation, pride, self-confidence, education, and a positive attitude toward our equine friends and each other. Prior experience in speed events is not necessary, and each event will be demonstrated prior to competition. A lead-line group is available for young riders age 2 to 6.
The cost for each event is $5 per rider for non-members and $3 per rider for members. Membership is not required to compete or win prizes at the gymkhana, but members are eligible for year-end awards such as buckles and tack by riding in a minimum of five gymkhanas throughout the season. Membership forms will be available at the gymkhana and family discount rates are available.
Gymkhanas are held on the third Saturday of every month at the Navajo County fairgrounds, with morning start times during spring and fall months, and evening start times in the summer months.
