The Winslow Bulldog baseball team defeated the Warriors 23-3 in a game played last Wednesday at Tuba City. The win was the fifth for the Bulldogs, who improved to 5-0 going in their game Saturday against the Sand Devils in Page.
Winslow used four pitchers, who held Tuba City to three runs, only one of which was earned, on just two hits and three walks. Chance Dick started and got the win, working two innings and giving up one run, which was earned on two hits with three strikeouts. Rodney Davis worked an inning and did not allow a base runner. Stevin Nelson was touched for two unearned runs on two walks while fanning two. A team error accounted for the runs. Akkeem Foster worked the final inning and allowed only a walk while fanning three Warriors.
The Bulldogs played the entire squad and cracked out 19 base hits, including four doubles, three triples and four home runs. Colton Corum was three for three with a home run. Nelson, Adrian Montoya and Caleb Cirre were all two for two, with Nelson having a triple and a home run, and Montoya and Cirre both having doubles. Dick was one for one with a double. Foster was also one for one. Matt Cirre was two for three with a home run. Jeff Gonzales was two for four with a triple. Henry Montiel, Cooper Parsons and Davis were all one for two, with Parsons having a home run, Davis a triple and Montiel a double. Matthew Ramos was one for three.
The Bulldogs were to host the Holbrook Roadrunners on Tuesday. They will host the Flagstaff Eagles on Thursday, March 13, and journey to Flagstaff for a rematch on Saturday, March 15. They will host the Hopi Bruins on Tuesday, March 18, and the Camp Verde Cowboys on Wednesday, March 19.
