Photo by Nick Worth The bees are already busy this spring gathering nectar from the many trees blossoming throughout Holbrook, like this purple plum tree along the east side of the Old Courthouse lawn. In gathering the nectar, the worker bees transfer pollen from one bloom to another, ensuring pollination of the blossoms. In this case, however, that part of their work is in vain. According to city Parks and Recreation Manager John Guttery, the purple plum trees do not produce fruit.
