Winslow made quick work of Holbrook in Tuesday afternoon’s softball contest, although the game really wasn’t decided until the fourth inning.
The Lady Roadrunners started quickly, scoring twice in the top of the first to get off on the right foot. That lead held up until the bottom of the second when the Lady Bulldogs cut it in half. Winslow took the lead for good with three runs in the third, then blew the game open by scoring nine times in the fourth. Needing at least two runs to move the game past five innings, Holbrook managed just one and lost the game 13-3.
The Roadrunners finished the game with just five hits. Demo Perkins went two for three, and Alizia Foster, Brandi Cline and Tess Baldonado were all one for three.
Holbrook had four strikeouts and drew just three walks.
Baldonado took the loss in the circle, giving up 15 hits with three walks and a strikeout.
With the loss the Roadrunners dropped their season mark to 5-3-1 and evened their power point record at 2-2. They will host Snowflake this afternoon (March 14), then travel to Eagar on Monday, March 17, to play Round Valley. On Thursday, March 20, they will welcome in Blue Ridge.
