The Lady Roadrunners dropped their second game for the week, losing at home to Snowflake last Friday afternoon by a final of 16-3.
The visitors scored three runs in the first, then matched that output with three more in the second to gain the upper hand. Holbrook pushed across one run in the second, then added another in the fourth to pull closer at 6-2. In the fourth all doubt was cast aside when the Lady Lobos scored 10 runs. Holbrook added one more in the fourth, but the game ended under the 10-run rule after the fifth.
Snowflake pitcher Kelsie Stratton limited Holbrook to just six hits in the game. Tess Baldonado went two for three, while Brandi Cline, Alizia Foster and Demo Perkins each went one for three.
Perkins took the loss in the circle as the Lobos finished with 15 hits with six walks and connected on three home runs.
Holbrook struck out eight times and drew just three walks in the loss.
Holbrook fell to 5-4-1 overall and 2-3 in power point contests entering Monday’s matchup with Round Valley at Eagar. After hosting Blue Ridge on Thursday, March 20, the Roadrunners will travel to Payson to play in the Gracie Haught Tournament on Friday and Saturday. On Tuesday, March 25, they resume regular season play with a game at Chinle.
