Holbrook’s Lady Roadrunners returned to the win column Tuesday afternoon, coming out on the right side of a 15-6 decision at Chinle.
Through the first inning it appeared that the Lady Wildcats would be able to make a game of it as they led 2-1. However, in the third Holbrook began to pull away with three runs. The Birds added six more in the fourth, tacked on two more in the fifth and closed out the game with three final runs in the top of the seventh. Chinle scored once in the fourth, and wrapped up its scoring with three in the fifth.
At the plate Holbrook collected 21 hits, led by Demo Perkins who went 4 for 5. Alizia Foster returned from an injury sustained in the Payson tournament and went 3 for 3. Brandi Cline was 3 for 5 with a home run.
Perkins earned the win in the circle, and Tess Baldonado was credited with a save. Together they combined to allow only six runs on five hits with six walks and collectively struck out 10 Lady Wildcats.
The Roadrunners will return to action on Monday, March 31, when they host Mogollon in a power point contest.
