The Lady Lobos dropped the only game they played last week, falling to the visiting Payson Lady Longhorns on Tuesday afternoon.
Payson scored the game’s first run in the top of the first, but Snowflake quickly took the lead with a pair of runs in the home half of the inning. The Longhorns tied the game in the second, then moved out in front with another single run in the top of the third. The Lobos again came back and tied the game at 3-3 through three. In the top of the fourth the Longhorns pushed across three runs, building a lead that Snowflake couldn’t overcome. The Lobos eventually fell 8-4, dropping their overall record to 13-7.
Snowflake accumulated seven hits in the contest. Tyler Flake went 2 for 3 with an RBI. Tycee Coplan was 2 for 4 and stole a base. Tori Flake and Kimber Solomon went 1 for 3. Shayna Austin was also 1 for 3 and stole two bases.
Flake took the loss in the circle, pitching all seven innings. She faced 39 Longhorn batters and gave up eight runs, only three earned, on seven hits with seven strikeouts and six walks.
After playing at Show Low on Tuesday, the Lobos will face Alchesay on Thursday, April 3, in Whiteriver. They host Round Valley on Friday, April 4, then will travel to Eagar for the rematch on Tuesday, April 8.
