Elma Sanchez, 86, passed away on Sunday, March 30, 2014, in Winslow. Mass of Christian Burial was celebrated on April 4 at St. Joseph’s Catholic Church in Winslow, with Father Jeffrey King officiating. Interment followed at Desert View Cemetery in Winslow.
She was born on Feb. 3, 1928, in Winslow.
Elma’s hobbies were playing cards and bingo, and spending time with family and friends. She adored her grandchildren. She was the best mother and loved to cook.
Survivors include her children, Raymond (Josie) Sanchez, Veya Bardsley, Mike (Jane) Sanchez, Irene (Ron) Doud, Gina (John) Ackerman, Donna Guerrero and Johnny Sanchez Jr., all of Winslow; 35 grandchildren; 87 great-grandchildren; and 12 great-great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Soteno and Ramona Garcia; her husband, Johnny A. Sanchez; a daughter, Linda Baca; a sister; three brothers; two grandsons; and two great-grandchildren.
