The Winslow Lady Bulldog softball team stayed unbeaten with an 8-5 win over the Mingus Lady Marauders in Cottonwood last Tuesday and a 5-0 victory over the Round Valley Lady Elks on Thursday. The wins were Winslow’s 18th and 19th of the season without a defeat.
In the Mingus game Winslow took a 1-0 lead in the top of the first, fell behind 2-1 in the bottom of the frame, then regained the lead for good at 4-2 in the top of the third inning. The Bulldogs scored a run in each of the next four innings, and the Marauders scored one in the bottom of the fourth and two in the bottom of the seventh inning.
In the Round Valley contest, Taylor Baca got the win working four innings and giving up no runs on one hit and one walk. Richelyn Villanueva worked three scoreless innings in relief and gave up just one hit and a walk.
Villanueva was 1 for 1 at the plate with a double. Erica Jodie and Baca were both 2 for 3. Liz Lozano and Jaleisa Hayes were 2 for 4, with Lozano having a double. Hailee Branson and Katonya Begay were 1 for 2. Sierra Wilcox was 1 for 3.
The Bulldogs will play the Blue Ridge Lady Yellowjackets on Friday, April 11, at Lakeside, and host the Globe Lady Tigers on Saturday, April 12.
