The Roadrunners’ three-day trip to Goodyear for the Estrella Foothills Wolves Classic didn’t go as hoped, as the team lost all four of its games.
Holbrook fell to Payson in a close, 6-4 contest last Thursday. Friday’s first game was a 12-1 loss to Combs followed by a 10-7 loss to Youngker in the Birds’ second contest of the day. On Saturday they fell to Chino Valley 16-3 to come home with a 4-12-1 overall record on the season. Even though they have just four wins, all four have been in power point contests.
Now that the rankings have been published the Roadrunners find themselves ranked 34th overall with a 4-6 record in those games. In order to reach the post-season, they will need to rise into the top 24 in the standings. With just eight games left on the schedule they may need to win at least half of those to extend their season. The Roadrunners will get their first opportunity today (April 9) when they host Blue Ridge. On Friday, April 11, they play at Show Low, and on Tuesday, April 15, they will host Winslow.
