Russell Mockta, Jr., 74, passed away on Wednesday, April 9, 2014, in Flagstaff. A graveside service was held April 11 at Desert View Cemetery in Winslow.
Russell was born in Keams Canyon on June 1, 1939.
He was a retired treasurer for the Hopi Tribe. He served two years in U.S. Army and one year in the Air Force.
Survivors include his wife, Ethelene Mockta; his mother, Mayfa Kewanimptewa; two daughters, Angela Shupla and Crystal Puhuyesva; two brothers, Davis Kewanimptewa and Gregory Mockta; a sister, Nancy Yaiva; five grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.
Greer’s Mortuary of Winslow was in charge of the arrangements.
