The Lobos won both of their games last week, keeping themselves well inside the top 16 in the power point rankings with wins over Alchesay and Globe. With only five games and two weeks left in the regular season, the Snowflake squad has positioned itself for a state tournament bid.
Hosting the Falcons on Tuesday, Snowflake scored four runs in the first to gain the early lead, then gradually added to that total with single runs in the second, third and fourth frames. A final single run came in the sixth and Alchesay’s lone run in the top of the seventh left the Lobos with a comfortable 8-1 win.
Snowflake collected eight hits and made only one error. Alchesay had two hits and made two errors in the loss.
On the hill, Tyler Hansen earned the win, facing 24 batters in seven innings of work. He allowed one unearned run on two hits and fanned 11 with one walk.
At the plate, Jarom Beecroft went 1 for 3. Ty Reidhead was 1 for 3 with two RBIs. Dallon Reidhead went 2 for 3 with a pair of doubles. Nate Kelley went 1 for 2 with an RBI. Hunter Bauer was 3 for 4 with two RBIs.
Wednesday’s game at Globe was scoreless through four innings. In the top of the fifth the Lobos figured out the Tigers’ pitching and scored eight runs in the process. They added three more in the sixth before giving up two in the bottom of the inning. Trailing by nine in the bottom of the seventh the Tigers tried to mount a rally, scoring four runs, but the Lobos prevailed 11-6.
Globe had five hits and made two errors. The Lobos finished with 19 hits and made one error.
Caedon Ervien went 1 for 4. Beecroft was 2 for 3. Bradley Clark went 3 for 5 with two doubles and an RBI. Ty Reidhead went 2 for 3 with a double and an RBI. Tanner Crosby was 3 for 5 with a double and two RBIs. Kelley went 3 for 5 with an RBI. Dallin Fusselman was 2 for 4 with a double and collected four RBIs. Bauer was 2 for 5 with a double and an RBI. Matt Lamb went 1 for 1 with an RBI.
Jake Lyman, Beecroft and Garrett Jackson combined to face 34 batters. They allowed six runs, only four earned, on five hits with seven strikeouts and walked nine.
Snowflake heads into the final two weeks with a 9-4 power point mark. After playing Blue Ridge on Tuesday at Lakeside, the Lobos will host Holbrook on Thursday, then travel to Safford on Friday. Their final week of the regular season includes home games with Show Low next Tuesday and Winslow on Wednesday.
