The Bulldogs defeated the Alchesay Falcons 18-2 in Winslow last Saturday. The win left the Bulldogs with a record of 16-8.
Caleb Cirre got the win, working four innings on the mound. He gave up two runs, only one of which was earned, on just two hits, a hit batsman and a walk. He fanned five. His brother Matt Cirre worked the final inning of the game, which was called under the mercy rule after five innings, and did not allow a run on no hits and a walk with two strikeouts.
Winslow scored six runs in the first inning on five hits and two walks. Henry Montiel had two doubles in the inning. Rey Chavez-Velez had a triple, and Adrian Montoya and C.J. Chacon each had a single in the rally, during which one batter reached on a wild pitch strikeout.
The Bulldogs plated seven runs in the third inning for a 13-0 lead. Montiel pasted his third double of the game in that inning and Chacon hit a home run. Montoya had a double, and there were two hit batsmen and a walk.
Alchesay scored twice in the top of the fourth inning on a walk, a double and a Winslow error. The Bulldogs ended the scoring with a five-run bottom of the fourth inning on a single by Caleb Cirre, a triple by Colton Corum, a single by Devon Flanagan, a walk and six Alchesay errors.
Montiel was 3 for 3 with three doubles. Chacon was 2 for 2 with a home run. Chavez-Velez was 2 for 2. Caleb Cirre and Flanagan were each 1 for 1. Matt Cirre was 2 for 3 with a triple. Montoya was 2 for 4 with a double. Corum was 1 for 3 with a triple.
The Bulldogs will host the Round Valley Elks on Saturday, April 26, and journey to Snowflake to end the regular season against the Lobos on Wednesday, April 30.
