Raymond Martinez passed away on Monday, April 14, 2014. Holy Rosary will be recited at 9:30 this morning (April 25) at Madre de Dios Catholic Church in Winslow, followed immediately by the celebration of Mass of Christian Burial. Inurnment will follow at Desert View Cemetery in Winslow.
He was born on June 20, 1958, to Raul and Lily Martinez.
Raymond grew up and attended school in Winslow, graduating in 1976. He was an excellent wrestler and baseball player.
He married the love of his life, Diana, in April 1977, and they had one daughter, Lorey Rae. They later parted ways, and after 18 years, they reunited and were remarried as they were always meant to be.
Raymond spent several years employed by and was a supervisor for Mariposa Landscape Inc. in both California and Phoenix. He took great pride in his work, and headed several large contracts for the company.
He was an avid sports lover, and enjoyed watching any and all sports; he especially loved the Dallas Cowboys.
Raymond was a man of great faith, and read and studied the Bible at every opportunity. He loved talking about Jesus with his family and friends.
His grandchildren were his pride and joy; he got such happiness and many laughs from things they said and did.
Survivors include his mom, Lily Martinez; his wife, Diana Martinez; two daughters, Lorey (Dale) Thomas and Sierra (Lane) Lariviere; three grandchildren, Morgan, Gage and Connor; his brother, Michael; and his nephews and nieces.
He was preceded in death by his dad, Raul; two brothers, Robert and Ricky; and his grandparents.
Greer’s Mortuary of Winslow was in charge of the arrangements.
