The Lobos put together three impressive wins on the diamond last week, picking up victories over Blue Ridge, Holbrook and Safford to move up to 10th in the power rankings heading into the final week of the regular season.
Tuesday’s road win over Blue Ridge saw the Lobos come back from two runs down after the first inning. They battled back to tie the game in the third, then slowly moved ahead in the fourth and fifth frames. Three runs in the sixth put the game away in the 9-3 win.
Caedon Ervien went 1 for 5 with a double. Bradley Clark was 2 for 3 with two RBIs. Ty Reidhead went 3 for 4. Tanner Crosby was 1 for 3, as was Tyler Hansen. Nate Kelley also went 1 for 3 with a triple and two RBIs. Dallin Fusselman was 2 for 3 with an RBI.
The Lobos stole 11 bases, led by Ty Reidhead and Fusselman with three each.
Jarom Beecroft earned the win on the hill with seven innings of work facing 27 batters. He allowed three runs on five hits with nine strikeouts and walked two.
In Thursday’s home field win over Holbrook the Lobos were never really threatened. Snowflake built an 8-0 lead through four innings before giving up three runs to the Roadrunners late.
Hansen faced 30 batters through seven innings. He allowed three runs, only two earned, on 11 hits with four strikeouts and walked three.
At the plate, Ervien went 2 for 3 with a double. Beecroft was 2 for 3 with a triple, a double and an RBI. Clark was 1 for 1. Ty Reidhead went 1 for 3. Dallon Reidhead went 2 for 3 with an RBI. Garrett Jackson was 1 for 2 with a double and an RBI. Crosby was 1 for 4. Kelley went 2 for 3 with a double.
Snowflake traveled to Safford on Friday and came home with a 13-9 road win over the Bulldogs.
A scoreless first inning led to the second, where the Lobos scored six times. They tacked on another six in the fourth inning, but then gave up seven runs to Safford in the bottom of that inning. Snowflake added one more in the sixth to win the game by four runs.
At the plate, Ervien went 1 for 5. Beecroft was 2 for 3 with a double and two RBIs. Clark was 2 for 3 with a double and an RBI. Ty Reidhead went 2 for 3 with a double. Dallon Reidhead was 1 for 2 with an RBI. Crosby went 1 for 5 with an RBI. Hansen was 1 for 2. Kelley went 2 for 4. Fusselman was 1 for 1. Hunter Bauer went 1 for 5 with a double and two RBIs. Matt Lamb went 2 for 3 with a double and three RBIs.
Jake Lyman, Crosby and Fusselman combined to face 38 batters in seven innings of work. Collectively, they gave up nine runs, only four earned, on nine hits with five strikeouts and walked nine.
After hosting fourth ranked Show Low on Tuesday, the Lobos will host eighth ranked Winslow today (April 30) in the regular season finale. If they remain outside the top eight in the rankings, the Lobos will play in the first round of the state baseball tournament at either 4 or 6:30 p.m. on Saturday, May 3, at the Surprise Sports Complex. If they move into the top eight in the rankings they won’t play until the second round of the state playoffs on Friday, May 9.
