The Roadrunners won their penultimate game of the season Tuesday afternoon, a 6-1 victory over visiting Alchesay. The game ended under some bizarre circumstances as the Falcons’ head coach pulled his team from the diamond in the top of the sixth inning and took them home, in essence forfeiting the rest of the game. Holbrook was already comfortably on top in the game when the stoppage happened.
Holbrook scored three in the first and second innings to lead 6-0 before giving up a single run to the Falcons in the top of the third.
The Roadrunners scored their six runs on six hits, made just one error and left three on base.
The Falcons collected three hits, made seven errors and also left three stranded.
Buddy Wagoner earned the win on the hill, facing 22 batters in six innings of work. He allowed just the one earned run on three hits with one walk and struck out eight.
At the plate, Carlos Quintana went 1 for 3 for Holbrook with an RBI and scored a run. Nikko Ferniza was 1 for 3 and also scored once. Julian Garcia went 0 for 3 with an RBI, but reached once on an error and later scored. Ben Nafziger went 1 for 2 with two RBIs. Adryan Fulton went 1 for 1 with a double, a walk and scored once. Cade Maestas was 2 for 2 and scored once.
Holbrook was slated to wrap up the season at home on Wednesday against St. Johns.
