Leroy Ami, 91, passed away on Thursday, May 1, 2014, in Sedona. Graveside services were held May 3 at the family plot in Polacca.
He was born on Oct. 31, 1922, to Glenn and Nettie (Poocha) Ami in Polacca.
He was last employed by the Bureau of Indian Affairs for more than 40 years. He served his country with the U.S. Navy, receiving a Bronze Star and a Purple Heart.
Survivors include his five sons, Clifton Ami, Carlon Ami, Donald Ami, Myron Ami and John Ami; his daughter, Wilma Dengavi; a sister, Sylvia Poleyestewa; 17 grandchildren; and 16 great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Mary Ami; two sons, Robert Ami and Harry Ami; and his parents.
 Greer’s Mortuary of Winslow was in charge of the arrangements.
