The Winslow City Council unanimously approved a one-year contract with Ellen M. Van Riper May 1 to serve as city attorney, replacing the retired Dale Patton.
Under the contract, the city will pay Van Riper $6,500 per month, with additional fees for services not covered by the Arizona Municipal Risk Prevention Pool and for prosecution services. Some out of pocket expenses may also be reimbursed.
Van Riper said that she had been at city hall and met most of the staff earlier in the day, and noted that she feels she can help in quite a few areas and expects to work well with the city staff.
