A 4.5-mile community walking path is being planned at the Navajo County complex in Holbrook to encourage residents and county employees to get out and get fit.
In anticipation of construction, which begins on June 7, residents are being asked to help name the new trail. Suggested names may be submitted through the county website at www.navajocountyaz.gov.
The walking trail is a joint effort between the county government and the White Mountain Youth Corps. The trailhead will be located at the racquetball courts at the county complex and it will loop around the complex.
A groundbreaking ceremony for the trail is planned from 8:30 a.m. to 12 noon on Saturday, June 7. The public is invited to attend and lunch will be served.
The individual who submits the name selected for the walking trail will be presented with a healthy lifestyle gift set.
