Elizabeth B. Dickson, 75, passed away on Wednesday, May 14, 2014, in Flagstaff. Mass of Christian Burial was celebrated May 19 at St. Joseph’s Catholic Church in Winslow, with Father Lawrence O’Keefe officiating.
She was born on May 15, 1938, to Charlie and Ora Kanuho Benton in Cedar Springs, Ariz. Her maternal clan is Big Water and paternal clan is Edgewater. Maternal grandparents are Red Running Into Water People Clan (Tá a chi ní). Paternal grandparents are Towering House Clan.
Elizabeth was a traditional medicine woman for 60 years. She was also a lifelong rancher, loved to travel and to help people with her prayers.
Survivors include her husband, Johnny Dickson; five sons, Tilman (Sharon) Dickson, Emerson (Janell) Dickson, Jonathan Dickson, Julius (Pertala) Dickson and Loren Dickson; three daughters, Lola (Fred) Watson, Clara (Calvert) Williams and Phoebe (Benjamin) Charley; 32 grandchildren; and 11 great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her mother and father; a son, Tyrone Dickson; two sisters, Leota Sangster and Tola Thomas; and a brother, Ambrose Benton.
Greer’s Mortuary of Winslow was in charge of the arrangements.
