A former Holbrook resident who had moved to Tempe is being mourned after she was shot and killed last week in a domestic violence incident involving her ex-boyfriend.
According to a report in the The Arizona Republic, Charla Faust, 33, was observed arguing with suspect John Brazel, 33, at a complex in Tempe on Tuesday, May 20. When a male neighbor saw them arguing and tried to intervene, the suspect drew a gun and shot both Faust and the neighbor. The neighbor was taken to a nearby hospital for treatment and Faust died from her injuries.
After leading police on a chase in a stolen vehicle near Coolidge early last Friday, Brazel reportedly shot himself as Pinal County deputies closed in on him. He was pronounced dead at 4:07 a.m. on May 23.
