The Arizona Department of Transportation was slated to begin replacing the existing bridge at Five Mile Draw, located at milepost 366, approximately six miles north of Snowflake, on Tuesday. The current three-span concrete slab bridge will be replaced with a new one span concrete girder bridge.
The $3.2 million project, which is expected to be completed by January 2015, will include raising and widening the existing roadway, installing a new four-lane bridge, and removing and installing new guardrail.
Work hours will be from 5:30 a.m. to 6 p.m., Monday through Friday. The roadway will remain open during construction, but there may be short delays at varying times. There will be narrow traffic lanes, wide load restrictions and a reduced speed limit through the work zone.
ADOT advises drivers to proceed through the work zone with caution, slow down, and be alert for construction equipment and personnel.
