Our beloved mother, grandmother and friend, Susie Paul, passed away on Saturday, May 17, 2014. She was with loved ones when she peacefully and comfortably passed away. Memorial services will be held at 10 a.m. on Saturday, May 31, at The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints in Winslow.
She was born Susan Joan Nebgen on Feb. 2, 1946, in Winslow. Her parents were Joseph R. Nebgen and Doreen M. Burbage Nebgen. She spent most of her life in Winslow.
Susie worked for the Winslow Unified School District for many years. She enjoyed being around the kids and driving the bus. She was known by the kids as the “one who made everyone mind.” She also worked at Hunt’s Feed Store between her split shift at the school.
She volunteered many years as the 4-H Horse Project leader. She continued to show special interest and support the 4-H Program throughout her life.
Susie loved her grandchildren, children and friends beyond measure. She enjoyed sitting on her porch visiting with her friends, watching the grandkids work with their animals, gardening and making little rocks out of big ones with her riding mower. She considered herself as the neighborhood Weed Fairy and worked hard at keeping the weeds down.
She spent the majority of her time quilting. She loved the “quilting ladies” and the time she spent with them. She loved to make people laugh and told crazy stories.
Susie will be missed by many.
She was preceded in death by her “Granny,” Jessie Burbage; her sister, Vicky Scott; her mother, Doreen Baum; and her grandson, Jase Ambrose.
Survivors include her daughters, Sheila Nylund (Colby), Shanon Gose (John) and Karyn Ambrose; and her grandchildren, Kenzie Gose, Aydin Nylund, Keileigh Gose, Keegan Nylund and Dakota Ambrose.
In lieu of flowers, please consider a donation to Quilts of Valor through the Winslow Quilt Guild. Contact Shanon at (928) 587-2309.
