The Notah Begay III Foundation will host a Junior Golf Camp for area Indian Country children and local youth. The foundation’s mission is to reduce the incidence of childhood obesity and Type 2 Diabetes, and promote the leadership development of Native American children through evidence-based sports, health and wellness programs.
The camp will be divided into age groups of 6 to 11 and 12 to 18, and will be held from 8:30 a.m. to 4 p.m. on Friday and Saturday, July 18 and 19, at Holbrook’s Hidden Cove Golf Course. Coaches will work with students who will rotate to various stations to learn basic golf components, golf etiquette and healthy nutrition. The camp is limited to 60 participants.
Registration is slated from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. on Saturday, June 21, at the Holbrook Safeway. The cost of the camp is $60 per participant. Participants will receive a swag bag with a T-shirt and baseball cap. Lunch for both days is included in the cost. The City of Holbrook is providing free Holbrook pool passes to participants after 4 p.m. on Saturday, July 19.
