Petrified Forest National Park invites the public to meet the artists and enjoy an afternoon art show to celebrate Postcards from the Iron Camera, the new series by artist team United Catalysts, from 3 to 5 p.m. on Friday, June 20, at the Painted Desert Inn National Historic Landmark. The normal entrance fee into the park applies.
Postcards from the Iron Camera is inspired by their tenure as October 2013 Artists in Residence at the park. During their two-week stay, artists Kim Garrison and Steve Radosevich captured the landscape with a hand-built cast iron camera. The prints were developed using a combination of traditional darkroom techniques and digital editing, then colored with watercolor, ink and pencil. The resulting imagery is as surreal as the park itself–a combination of photography, drawing, painting and collage, depicting a landscape of fantasy and mystery that is the Painted Desert and the Petrified Forest.
The show will be on display through Dec. 21.
