Bill was born in Buffalo, N.Y., on Feb. 10, 1922. He grew up in upstate New York around Jamestown and joined the United States Marine Corps. After returning from his tour of duty, he met the love of his life, Grace. On Feb. 6, 1948, they were married and began their family. They packed up and moved to Arizona in 1953, and ended up in the Cottonwood-Prescott area, where they had their next two children. They then moved to Flagstaff, where they had their next three children. Work then moved them to Springerville and then on to Show Low, where the ninth and final child joined the family.
Bill had a full and complete life; he was married for 54 years. He had many talents, and enjoyed working on small engines, and caring for all his rabbits and chickens.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Grace; and his eldest son, Barry Burgan.
Survivors include the rest of his eight children, including Ann Perez, Craig Burgan, Dana Burgan, Eric Burgan, Faith Burgan, Ginger Chalfin, Hoyt Burgan and Ivan Burgan. Bill also had 15 grandchildren and 20 great-grandchildren.
