During a meeting for the Town of Taylor on July 2, Town Manager Gus Lundberg informed the council that staff is unclear as to how a slab of cement that had a building permit is encroaching the airport property line.
The encroachment was discovered when the airport was being surveyed to build a fence explained Lundberg, noting that council discussed this previously, but no action was taken at that time.
Lundberg has been in contact with the FAA (Federal Aviation Administration) and the property owner to come up with a resolution. “Obviously the fence is already up,” he said.
“There was some discussion about the price and we looked at options as far as how to make this transaction appropriate,” said Lundberg, who recommended that the property owner pay the fair market value of the appraisal and the town absorb the cost of the appraisal and survey.
A motion to direct town staff to move forward with the real estate transaction involving the airport land encroachment involving the resident, and give staff the authority to make the real estate transaction passed unanimously.
