School begins on Monday, July 28, for students in the Winslow School District. Following is a schedule of pertinent events.
New and returning students may pick up registration packets between 8 a.m. and 4 p.m., Monday through Friday, at the WHS office. All students must verify residency with a parent or guardian’s Arizona driver’s license, W2 form, chapter house letter, pay stub or utility bill.
Students can begin to pick up their schedules, ID’s, books, activity cards and any other items in the Student Union on the following schedule:
* Seniors, 8 to 11 a.m. and 1 to 3 p.m. on Monday, July 21.
* Juniors, 8 to 11 a.m. and 1 to 3 p.m. on Tuesday, July 22.
* Sophomores, 8 to 11 a.m. and 1 to 3 p.m. on Wednesday, July 23.
* Freshmen, 8 to 11 a.m. on Thursday and Friday, July 24 and 25. Students who cannot make their scheduled date can come in from 1 to 3 p.m. on July 25.
Used padlocks will be $4 each and new ones, $5.
The WHS Open House will be held from 4 to 6 p.m. on the first day of school, July 28.
Fall sports practice begins for football and support forces on Monday, Aug. 4, and for cross country and volleyball on Monday, Aug. 11. The athletic participation fee for each sport is $50, and each student must have a clearance card to participate. Contact WHS Athletic Director Justin Hartman for more information at (928) 288-8100.
There will be a mandatory support force parent meeting at 4 o’clock this afternoon (July 16) in the WHS Performing Arts Center. Support Force Camp will be held Thursday through Saturday, July 17-19.
Band Camp will be held Monday through Friday, July 21-25. Contact band director Tyler Allen at (928) 288-8100 for more information. Instrumental rentals for band and orchestra will be $50, and participation fees are $50.
