Bill Bolin of the Rural Resources Center gave a presentation to the Winslow City Council July 22 regarding resources available for entrepreneurs and small businesses.
Winslow Chamber of Commerce Director Bob Hall endorsed the Rural Resource Center and what it provides.
The Rural Resources Center is funded by a U.S. Department of Agriculture (USDA) grant and administered by the Northern Arizona Council of Governments (NACOG). It is intended to encourage rural regions and communities to develop programs for retention and startup operations, with special attention to entrepreneurs and small business owners. It includes a variety of programs for both on site and mobile operations.
There is a CD, which contains the Resource Center’s toolkit to help a community get started. It is comprised of business assessments, workshops and the basics of financial reporting. This program is modeled after NACOG’s Business Assistance Centers and the Copper Corridor’s Mobile Business Success Centers. Both programs have been used for years and have helped many clients.
