Mark Ollerton, Business Manager, Snowflake Unified School District (SUSD) had good news for property owners at the Thursday, Aug. 14, school board meeting.
Ollerton said that in June and July the tax rate for the proposed budget and adopted budget for fiscal year 2014-15 was presented at $5.97 per $1,000 of assessed value but that amount has been reduced.
“After working with the county the last two weeks and nailing down our projected revenue for this year, our tax rate is $5.42, a difference of $.54,” said Ollerton adding, “That includes the adjacent ways tax approved by the governing board. This is a $.35 decrease over last year’s tax rate.”
“That is great news,” said Hollis Merrell, Superintendent. “That was very unexpected to have our tax rate assessed value drop down,” he added, noting that assessed values dropped by $13 million this year.
