Marty McNeil passed away and reunited with his dad and brother on Thursday, Aug. 21, 2014, at his home in Taylor after fighting colon cancer for the last four years. A viewing will be held from 5 to 8 p.m. on Friday, Aug. 29, at his home, located at 225 S. 600 East in Taylor. Dress is casual. Funeral services will be held at 12 noon on Saturday, Aug. 30, at the Taylor Stake Center of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, preceded by a viewing at 11 a.m. Interment will follow at the Reed Hatch Memorial cemetery in Taylor. His family requests that any family and friends with motorcycles follow in the procession to the cemetery.
He was born Feb. 4, 1961, to Lynn and Marilyn McNeil.
Marty worked for the Navajo County Road Department for 29 years and the Taylor Fire Department for more than 20 years.
He enjoyed hunting, fishing, camping, playing and spending time with his children and grandchildren, fighting wildfires and riding Harley Davidson motorcycles.
Marty was the beloved husband and best friend of Ava McNeil, an ever-loving father and role model to Kristyn, Austin, Valerie, Lynessa and Jade McNeil, and the “superhero” grandfather to Trett and Crycus McNeil. He was a good and loving son, a caring brother and a dear friend to many.
He was preceded in death by his father, Lynn McNeil; and his brother, Frank McNeil.
Silver Creek Mortuary of Taylor was in charge of the arrangements.
