Richard James “Dick” Kennedy, 82, passed away on Friday, Aug. 22, 2014, at the home of his daughter Stephanie in Holbrook with his family by his side. Services will be held at 2 p.m. on Saturday, Aug. 30, at the Elks Lodge in Holbrook. Interment will be at the Holbrook Cemetery and a reception will follow at the American Legion.
Dick was a Korean War Army veteran, a member of the 40&8, and a 60-year member of American Legion Post No. 37, where he served in the Color Guard. He was also a 40-year member of Elks Lodge No. 2450.
He was blessed with many great friends and loved them all dearly. He looked forward to morning coffee with the boys at Joe & Aggie’s. He loved taking his bike out on a road trip with his good friends and family. He loved camping at the Elks campground on the holidays, so you can bet he will be there this weekend. He also loved fishing with his grandkids when fishing was allowed at Cholla Lake.
He was preceded in death by his daughter, Cynthia Tafoya; his niece, Michelle Cortiania; and his granddaughter, Tiffany Golsarry.
Survivors include his sister, Donna Beaver (David, Tamara); Cindy’s children Gregory and Trisha; his daughters, Stephanie Kennedy (Avery, Allison, Brandon), Cheryl Brogdon (Neal) (John Paul, Athena), and Monica Kennedy (Hunter, Samara); his sons, James Kennedy (Thena) (Brittany, Michael, Jocelyn, LaCruze), and Michael Kennedy (Kathleen, Kristopher, Nolan, Fantasy); and 31 great-grandchildren.
In lieu of flowers, please help out a veteran in need and make a new friend. Be kind to strangers and always say “Good morning” with a smile.
“Old Bikers never die, they just ride away.” We love you, Dad. You will be missed.
Owens Livingston Mortuary of Holbrook was in charge of the arrangements.
