Forty-two names are listed on the varsity roster for head coach Ron Tenney as he and his staff prepare the Lobos for the upcoming gridiron season. Nineteen of those forty-two are seniors who hope to once again lead the Snowflake team to the post-season. The Lobos are perennial favorites to reach the state playoffs and despite playing one of the toughest Division IV schedules, they will again be expected to reach the tournament.
Last year’s team finished 9-3, with those losses coming to three of the final four teams, including state champion Blue Ridge. This season’s schedule is equally tough. Just the first month alone has Snowflake opening against Mingus, followed by games with Estrella Foothills, Seton Catholic and Winslow. The back half of the Lobos’ schedule has Blue Ridge, Payson and Show Low. As is usually the case, the Lobos will be well tested once the post-season arrives.
